While a fun concept, the whole douchebag hunting gig wasn't turning out as well as I had hoped it to.
Ever since my buddy Soul took a bullet for the spirit of the idea I haven't really had that much luck finding more people to sink bullets into. Instead, people have been finding me. (Funny, Ain'it?)
I had an awfully close encounter yesterday. After sitting around waiting for the game to load. The second I started seeing my HUD interface all I could hear is gunfire. I was pretty much shitting my pants at this point. I'm thinking I had logged out crouched, or standing up. Because once I had 'vision' I could see some guy down the field sending rounds from a Makarov or something my way. I got hit a couple times, but I turned tail-end and headed the fuck out.
My 'Snipers perch' was pretty much at the edge of the forest that crests off a bit to the northwest. I was able to lose the bastard long enough to hide in a pine tree and bandage up. I continued to put distance between him and I that I could cover an area that he would possibly approach by. Luckily, nothing. I decided the former shooting position wasn't as concealing as I hoped it would be, and that it was time to move on.
I mean, in most cases I only really had a rock between myself and a large clearing.

Here's that clearing. And here is me running out in the open like an idiot.
While it does expose you a good deal, the hill and clearing offers probably the 'best' shooting position to nail any elevated positions within the city. Namely the factory, any of the apartment complexes, industrial structures and more. And more importantly, I find it to be the perfect location in terms of zeroing your scope. The rock that I favor is called the '800 meter' rock. Mainly because its approximately 800 meters between it, and the roof of the factory. If the sights are dialled right in, you won't have to worry about any deviances with the shot being too high, or too low.
Anyway. I needed a new position. While the forest I was in was dense, it still provided a few openings in which I could frame the factory roof and a few other locations. As I was wandering about, I came across something rather interesting. Two tents. Now, if there were anyone there protecting them, I would've had my head blown off long ago, so it was pretty much free pickings.
And what pickings they were.
While one tent was empty, the other had some rather interesting loot. I came out with Nightvision goggles, GPS, Rangefinder and more importantly, one of these.

An L95 AWS
Which lets you see
This.
The image is pretty dinky due to there being nothing other than a thumbnail for its display. But its basically an L85 rifle with a big fat honking Thermal/Night Vision scope on it. Which is pretty fucking bad ass. I dumped the shotgun with a flashlight on it and stowed that beauty away in my backpack for later fun, provided I survive long enough to actually get a chance to use it...
Anyway, I didn't want to chance the original owner returning with me stealing his shit. So I ran away giggling like a kid with a new power ranger action figure... Well, A power ranger that could kill people and zombies that is.
So, that'll conclude this post for the day. The next couple days should prove pretty interesting I think. I'm going to take the initiative and explore north some more. Seeing how waiting for someone to shoot off of a roof is getting pretty boring fast.
Tomorrow, we go north!

I can empathize with your notions of returning the favors to the snipers (I tend to hunt them in Cherno). I also like to use my rifle to kill Zeds that are chasing folks through town.
ReplyDeleteAs I normally solo, it can be tough when clans work to track me down and take me out. Shoot and scoot.
